Around three years ago when my daughter was eight months pregnant, I witnessed and experienced a miracle which I believe demonstrates God’s guidance and healing power.

At that time my daughter had been feeling ill most probably due to the pregnancy and I had been praying for her regularly. Apart from the symptoms she was having, I also had a sense that perhaps something was wrong and because of this felt even more convinced that prayer was important.

On one particular day we arranged to meet in the town centre, and she called me up to sort out the details of when and where we should meet. We agreed to meet at a particular shop in town and I told her that I would be there a little later as I wanted to make myself a cup of tea before heading out.

I proceeded to put the kettle on, and took my mug out of the cupboard when suddenly I heard someone say to me, “don’t drink your tea, just go out right now”. When I say I heard the words, the truth is, I didn’t hear them audibly as such, but I did have a powerful feeling that I should go, and that feeling was so powerful that I turned around, almost as if I had heard a voice.

I can’t completely explain this sensation, but I knew that it was important to be obedient to this voice and quickly collected my bag, left my unmade tea on the bench and went out of the house to the shops. Other than a strong feeling that I needed to leave the house, I hadn’t really received any direction about what I was supposed to do or where I was supposed to go, so I decided just to go to the shops as intended and meet my daughter.

While I was in the shop, my daughter phoned and asked me where I was. I told her that I had decided to skip my cup of tea and that I was in the shop down the street from her and she said she would come to meet me after she had finished her supermarket shopping.

To my great surprise she turned up at the shop where I was much quicker than expected. You see, it turned out that I wasn’t the only one who had experienced a sense of guidance that day. While my daughter was in the supermarket she had felt an unusual sensation, almost as if someone had taken her by the hand and was leading her towards me.

This was all very surprising, so I said to her, okay just stay right there, let me pay for my shopping, and then we can go.

I went up to pay, then as I was finishing packing my bag, my daughter collapsed. I asked someone to call an ambulance which they immediately did, and then I started to pray for my daughter.
I knew then, why God had brought us together, and I was sure that although my daughter was very ill, that it was God’s plan for me to be there with her at that moment so that I could pray for her.

Shortly after I began praying, my daughter woke up. She seemed to be completely fine.

Soon after this, the ambulance arrived, checked how she was doing, and said that everything was absolutely fine, though as a safety precaution they asked her to come to the hospital. On her arrival at the hospital, the doctors at the hospital also confirmed that everything was fine.

Following this incident and following my prayers, my daughter remained well throughout the remainder of her pregnancy and one month later she gave birth to my very healthy and happy grandson.

Whenever I think about the different ways that God guides us, I remember this story, and it reminds me of how important it is to listen to God. I didn’t know this at the time, but now I do know, that the Holy Spirit guided me that day. I praise him for his guidance and his healing and for the life of my daughter and my grandson.
